* On each Ticket to Health, the student will write one healthy choice they make at home. For example, eating a piece of fruit for dessert, eating some vegetables with dinner, going outside to play instead of watching TV. * Parents or caregivers are to sign that they have made the healthy choice. * Get out and play a real family soccer game! Snow soccer in the winter is even more fun! |

* Students keep a record of an activity and snack they did or had after school and after dinner. With the help of a parent or caregiver, they indicate whether their snacks and activities were energizing or non-energizing. * For another day, plan with a parent or caregiver to make a healthy choice by replacing one non-energizing snack or activity with one that is energizing. For example: replace one hour of screen time with any activity, replace cookies with vegetables and low-fat dip, eat fruit instead of drinking juice, choose whole wheat foods. * Encourage children to play a high-energy activity at home with their family (tag, basketball, soccer) as well as a lower-energy activity (walking, swinging). * Encourage discussion on the right foods they can eat to fuel these activities. |
